A TeamSpeak room is where your group talks. The website lobby is for choosing a game, coordinating members and getting the connection details for a CS2 server. Being a lobby member does not mean you are already in the game. Connecting to TeamSpeak does not create a game lobby either.
Two spaces, different jobs
TeamSpeak voice room
Use a voice room to chat or hear each other while playing. You can keep that separate voice connection alongside your game. Choosing a map and starting a game server are not the voice room's job.
Game lobby on the website
Choose a game and group size, see the lobby members and use the connection area to enter CS2 once the server is ready. The lobby itself is not a replacement for a TeamSpeak voice room.
What is your group doing tonight?
- Just hanging out: you do not need to start a game server to talk. Choose a suitable voice room and coordinate with the people using it.
- Playing CS2 with friends: agree on the game and group size, then create a lobby or open your friend's invitation. If you want separate voice chat, agree on a voice room too.
- Playing with a new group: check the website's public lobbies. A public game lobby is not an invitation to enter any voice room on the server.
For the creation and invitation steps, see our CS2 lobby guide for friends. Still choosing a game? Our two-player game suggestions are a starting point for a small group.
Check “public” and “private” separately for each space
The public or private access option on the Create Lobby screen applies to that game lobby. For a friends-only group, read the access setting before sending invitations and share the private link only with that group.
A TeamSpeak room has its own access rules. If you do not know the people in a room, do not enter without an invitation or prior coordination; send a message first. For your own group's conversation, use a password-protected private room and do not post its password publicly. Calling something “private” does not replace taking care of its link, password or your personal information.
Normal room moves are different from repeatedly hopping between rooms to disturb people. Looking for a friend? A short message beats checking a string of strangers' rooms.
An invitation and a game connection are not the same thing
A lobby invitation takes your friend through joining the lobby. Join Game or the connection command is for connecting to the prepared game server. Neither should be confused with the TeamSpeak server address. Use each in the right application and at the right stage.
The lobby member list is not the same as the number of players inside the game server. Your friend may be in the lobby without having opened CS2 yet. Before starting, check whether everyone has joined only the lobby or has also connected in-game. Follow the current readiness state and connection area on the page; this guide does not promise a fixed launch time.
Tournament entry is a separate step
Being in voice chat, signing in through Steam or creating a friendly lobby is not tournament registration. Read the current status and entry steps on AmoHa's tournament page and complete the separate participation action. Take the schedule from the live event page, not an old message or your group's casual game time.
Quick questions
Do we need a lobby just to chat?
No. A lobby coordinates a game; use TeamSpeak for a voice conversation.
Does joining a lobby automatically put me in CS2?
Do not confuse lobby membership with a game connection. Once the server is ready, check Join Game or the connection command.
Why can I see my friend in the lobby but not hear them?
The lobby and voice room are separate. First check that you have agreed on the same voice room. If audio still does not work there, read the TeamSpeak audio settings guide.
What should I report if an invitation or connection fails?
Send the page address without the private invitation part, game name, error text and exact time with its timezone to website support. Do not publish account passwords, room passwords or private invitation links in a public report.
The spaces and control names described here were checked against AmoHa's current pages on 27 October 2026. Check the current status and access rules before joining.
